We have been retained to fill a Director of Quality position for a very stable and well-established company which
provides leading edge technologies coupled with proprietary techniques and processes to provide superior
high performance products. Their high security manufacturing facilities incudes over 400,000 square feet
of unmatched state-of-the-art manufacturing technology.  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, The Director of Quality will provide support for the company’s Quality Management Systems assuring the system is compliant to all internal and external customer and regulatory requirement.
  • The Quality Director will oversee the Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Assay Lab, and inspection Functions.
  • Will work closely with cross functional team to implement continuous improvement activities including launching a Lean Six-Sigma Program.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and presents information concerning factors such as production capabilities, manufacturing problems and design & development of new products for consideration by other members of the MEC team.
  • Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market expectations and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of Vacuum Melting, Vacuum Static Casting, High Temperature Forged Extrusion, Deep Drawing. Rolling, Stamping, Specialty Forming, Cutting, Fully Automated 5 Axis CNC Machining, Annealing and Specialty Heat Treatment, Fully Equipped Analytical and Chemical Analysis Laboratories.
  • Develops initial and subsequent modifications of product assurance program to delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements and operational procedures within department.
  • Assists in the development of short term and long term quality goals and objectives of the MEC businesses.
  • Performs and coordinate the root cause failure analysis related to customer product quality issues and effectively communicates resolution to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversees the test data recording process, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Assists in supplier reviews, audits and qualifications.
  • Participate in continuous improvement/lean initiative.
  • Assist in new product development/process development and launch when required.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of current technology. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Preferred 7 – 10 years of Engineering or Quality experience preferably in metal fabrication process environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, or Quality Engineering. Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.
  • Ability to work with a cross functional team and lead projects with non-technical staff.
  • Self-starter with change agent mentality.
  • Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously, following and understanding Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing methods and thinking processes.
  • At a minimum a Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt highly preferred.
  • Sense of urgency and results driven.
  • Exceptional communications skill at all levels of the organization.
